GROWING HOPE
THE MOVEMENT
THE MISSION
The Growing Hope Movement arose out of the ashes of civil and social unrest in South Africa in July 2021. Realizing food insecurity is a national security risk and that climate action is having an impact on food sustainability. We choose to plant food gardens, and teach permaculture wisdom and inspire food self-reliance as a courageous peacebuilding initiative!
Mission 2022 was an initiative to seed one food garden, every week (52), in South African under-resourced schools. We achieved 22 gardens in 2022.
Mission 2023: We will be working with two experienced community partners to teach permaculture-inspired farming and sustainable food-growing practices, to children in under-resourced communities.
